I think most people have at least one friend who is always building, tinkering, designing, or disassembling something (maybe that's you). I know I'm that friend. I got the building bug when I was pretty young (see that's me!). As I grew, the scope and size of my projects followed. This led me to Johns Hopkins University where I received a BS and MS in mechanical engineering. While I loved the subject matter, I knew an engineering career was not for me. Upon graduation, I decided to start a company that would allow me to focus on and express my passion for creativity and design. With help from Rudy, Ron and Bill, I started Highlight Design.
The AmbientOne LED table lamp is the first product to be designed and produced by Highlight Design. We started with lighting design because it's a great challenge. Our goal was to create a lamp that could seamlessly fit into a wide range of contemporary settings and produce clean and inviting light. In addition, we wished to preserve the environment and create American jobs. The AmbientOne has met and surpassed these goals. We are very proud to offer it as our first product.
We believe that the best products are ones that support local industry and are environmentally responsible. We have dedicated ourselves to manufacturing all of our components in the USA, many in and around Omaha, Nebraska. We avoid wasteful manufacturing techniques and choose materials that are 100% recyclable. Our products are made the right way the first time, so that they can last for and protect our generations to come.
Highlight Design is working to expand our innovation studio. We have multiple non-lighting related products in development for the consumer market. We look forward to sharing these products with you in the near future!
