What is a LED?
LED stands for Light Emitting Diode. An LED is a semiconductor that emits photons (light) when a charge (electricity) flows through it. In layman's terms, an LED is a small electronic chip that produces light when it is plugged in and turned on.
Why use LEDs over Incandescent or Compact Fluorescent Bulbs (CFL)?
LEDs, by the nature of their design, are much more efficient than Incandescent and CFL bulbs. This means that they can produce the same amount of light while using less energy. In addition, LEDs last around 25 times longer than an incandescent bulb and 5 times longer than a CFL. So why use LEDs? They help save energy and money, and you don't have to change the bulb (at least any time soon).
How do the LEDs look?
Awesome! We use top of the line Nichia LEDs that provide bright, warm white light (color temp 3200K)
What kind of bulb does the AmbientOne use?
The AmbientOne does not use a conventional "bulb." Instead, it has a custom designed array that uses 16 high power LEDs. The array comes pre-installed and is not user serviceable. For additional information, please see Warranty below.
Warranty, do I get one?
Yes, you do! The AmbientOne comes with a two year limited manufactures warranty that will cover manufacturing defects. Every one of our products is thoroughly inspected before it ships, but if something goes wrong we will be more than happy to fix it. After the warranty period expires, we will be happy to service the product for a fee.
What makes the AmbientOne unique?
The most unique feature of the AmbientOne is the LED array and the type of light output it produces. Instead of a focused pool of light (typical with LED task lights), the AmbientOne produces an ambient cast of light that is designed to fill a space. This, coupled with a glare free shade and full dimming capabilities, makes the AmbientOne perfect for a variety of settings.
Where is it made?
We take great pride in the fact that the AmbientOne is completely manufactured and assembled in the United States.
